The Ministry of Railways set up CRIS as a Society in July 1986. We are headquartered in New Delhi, with Regional offices in Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, and Secunderabad. Our current portfolio of projects covers the gamut of Indian Railways functions, such as passenger ticketing, freight operations, train dispatching and control, crew management, e-procurement, management of Railways? fixed and moving assets, and production of rolling stock. Our information systems provide services in the remotest of locations, from Kargil to Kanniyakumari, from Tawang to the Andaman Islands.

CRIS has seen a steep increase in the number of projects assigned to it in recent years. Our area of work now includes information systems from all disciplines and functions of the Indian Railways. Our focus is firmly on outcomes ? that is: fixing and adhering to project schedules optimizing resources and costs producing high quality systems to delight our customers.

We have demonstrated our capabilities through large-scale implementation of IR-wide applications such as the PRS, Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS), FOIS, Control Office Application (COA), and Crew Management System (CMS); but we do not intend to rest on our laurels. Instead, we are working to build the capacity to execute more projects in diverse fields, and to harness new technologies to provide innovative solutions for the Railways and other organisations. We have also made a foray into international projects by entering into an MOU with a sister organisation of another national Railway. I am of the firm belief that these measures will enable CRIS to play an increasing role in national development.
